City Expands AWRF From 3 MGD To 8 MGD
In June 2008, the Mayor and Council awarded the bid for the construction of the City’s proposed 8 MGD (Million Gallons Per Day) Advanced Water Reclamation Facility (AWRF) expansion project to Atlantic Skanska - log onto http://www.skanska.com
The bid from Atlantic Skanska was: $30,050,000.00

The picture above is an aerial photo of the City of Cumming’s Advanced Water Reclamation Facility (AWRF) The picture was taken on October 24, 2006. The two oval-shaped depressions, that you can see in the picture, are the beginnings of two new Aeration Basins that are now operational and used to treat raw sewage.

Currently, the City is permitted to discharge up to 8 MGD into Big Creek, a tributary of the Chattahoochee River.
